En general, un foro tiene una serie de normas para regular su funcionamiento, facilitando la vinculación de los foristas en un entorno armónico y de diálogo.
Actualmente, el concepto de foro está muy ligado a Internet y tiene que ver con los espacios de discusión virtuales que se utilizan para el intercambio de mensajes y opiniones en torno de aplicaciones y software, problemáticas sociales, grupos de fans y otros.
